Meribeth C.
CEO, Founder, Occupational Therapist (MS OTR/L)
Owner and Founder of Step Forward Therapy, Ltd., Meribeth is a dedicated advocate for children’s success. With degrees in Movement Science and Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, she specializes in addressing a range of challenges in children’s daily lives, including autism spectrum disorders and sensory processing issues. Fluent in American Sign Language, Meribeth ensures inclusivity in therapy sessions.
Co-author of an article on supporting student achievement through early intervening services, published in the Journal of Occupational Therapy, Schools, & Early Intervention, Meribeth showcases her commitment to collaboration and advancing the field. Formerly a Department Chair for the Occupational Therapy department in schools, she continues to contribute to the growth of occupational therapists through mentoring programs at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Meribeth Cassidy’s journey is marked by unwavering commitment and expertise, positively impacting the lives of children through Step Forward Therapy, Ltd.
Liz B.
Occupational Therapist (MS OTR/L)
Liz, a vital part of Step Forward Therapy since 2019, holds a Bachelor’s in Pre-Physical Therapy from the University of Dayton (2016) and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from The University of Minnesota (2018). Specializing in pediatric therapy, she’s adept in the DIR Floortime model, Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, and iLs. With diverse experience, Liz excels in treating children with conditions like Autism, ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorder. Her child-led approach and strong connections with families define her impact. Liz finds joy in witnessing clients achieve their goals and enjoys family time, cooking, and exploring Chicagoland. Her multifaceted skills and genuine enthusiasm enhance the Step Forward Therapy team.
Jillian K.
Clinical Director, Speech-Language Pathologist (M.S. CCC-SLP/L)
Meet Michele, a dedicated member of the Step Forward Therapy team since June 2017. Michele holds a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 2003 and a Master of Science degree obtained in 2004, both from Marquette University. Following her education, Michele completed her Clinical Fellowship in 2005 and received her Certificate of Clinical Competence.
With a wealth of experience, Michele has previously worked in the Illinois Public Schools and another private clinic before joining Step Forward Therapy. Her areas of specialization include articulation/phonological processing, cleft lip and palate, pragmatic language, and multi-lingual language development.
Michele is passionate about building strong relationships with each child’s team and family. She believes in providing comprehensive support by fostering an understanding of speech and language development. Through collaboration and communication, Michele strives to empower families to facilitate their child’s development and ongoing success.
Claire S.
Occupational Therapist (MOTR/L), Early Intervention
Claire earned her Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Xavier University. Her dedication to pediatric occupational therapy began during her academic years, where she gained valuable experience in this field. During her Level II placement, she focused on supporting children with cerebral palsy, and later, she spent a year at an OT camp dedicated to children with sensory processing difficulties. In her leisure time, Claire finds joy in playing Ultimate Frisbee, staying active outdoors, and cooking alongside her family.
Danielle B.
Occupational Therapist (MOT, OTR/L)
Danielle, earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science with a Minor in Psychology from Elmhurst University. She furthered her education by obtaining a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from North Central College. Danielle’s journey led her to Step Forward Therapy following extensive clinical placements and coursework, culminating in a final student experience at the clinic. Her diverse background includes working with individuals across all age groups and settings, ranging from early childhood to geriatric care. Passionate about fostering collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationships, Danielle is dedicated to empowering her clients and their families to lead meaningful lives. Committed to excellence, she continues to pursue additional courses to deliver evidence-based treatments. Outside of work, Danielle enjoys quality time with loved ones, exploring new culinary delights, embracing the outdoors, and playing with her furry companion.
Vicki H.
Occupational Therapist (COTA/L)
With over 28 years of experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist, Ms. Vicki brings a wealth of expertise across various settings including hospitals, schools, and clinics. A dedicated mother of two college-aged children, she is passionate about making therapy enjoyable for children of all ages and abilities. Vicki employs evidence-based practices and a supportive approach to help families thrive. Outside of work, she cherishes moments with her children Brett and Kirsten, indulges in quality time with her dog Hunter, and enjoys cultural outings like movies, sports, and concerts.
Jorie B.
Occupational Therapist (MSOT, OTR/L), Early Intervention
Jorie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Kinesiology Studies from Illinois State University, as well as a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Lewis University. With a focus on pediatric care, she gained invaluable experience during her Level II fieldwork, working with children facing diverse challenges including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, and more. Jorie is dedicated to supporting children in reaching their full potential and fostering strong connections with their families. She is committed to continuing education, particularly in sensory feeding and integration, through ongoing coursework and seminars. Outside of work, Jorie delights in quality time with her loved ones, exploring new culinary experiences, and nurturing her garden during the summer months.
Sam T.
Occupational Therapist (OTD, OTR/L)
Sam earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences from The Ohio State University and achieved her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. With clinical exposure spanning community centers to outpatient pediatric services, Sam brings a wealth of experience to her role. Passionate about integrating mental health into pediatric care, she is dedicated to supporting children and families alike. Sam is committed to advancing her knowledge in sensory integration and social-emotional development. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, reading, running, and exploring the city with loved ones.
Michaela M.
Occupational Therapist (MOT, OTR/L)
Michaela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Science with a minor in Special Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, both from Saint Louis University. Her passion for working with children has been evident from an early age, cultivated through experiences such as babysitting and volunteering at children’s camps. During her clinical rotations in an outpatient pediatric setting, Michaela honed her skills in providing family-centered care and fostering meaningful connections with her young clients through playful interactions. She is committed to ongoing professional development, with a focus on enhancing her expertise in handwriting, sensory integration, and feeding. Outside of work, Michaela finds joy in spending quality time with her loved ones, indulging in baking endeavors, watching movies, and engaging in sports activities.

Occupational Therapist (MOT, OTR/L)
Paige holds both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Occupational Therapy degrees from North Central College. She seamlessly transitioned to Step Forward Therapy upon completing her clinical placements and coursework, with her final placement solidifying her connection to the clinic. Paige’s extensive experiences span various age groups and settings, encompassing acute care, outpatient clinics, community day programs, and residential programs. Committed to fostering collaborative therapeutic relationships, Paige empowers her clients and their families to lead joyful and meaningful lives. Beyond the clinic, she finds joy in coaching and playing lacrosse, indulging in captivating thriller novels, and cherishing moments with loved ones.
Chantal B.
Occupational Therapist (MS, OTR/L)
Chantal earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Illinois State University and went on to complete her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). She completed her final clinical experience as a student here at Step Forward Therapy. Chantal brings a wealth of clinical experience from her work in public school settings, outpatient pediatrics, and physical rehabilitation. She is dedicated to providing client-centered care, building strong relationships with families and children, and empowering her young clients to achieve their daily living goals. In her free time, Chantal enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring the outdoors, baking, and traveling.
Cody D.
Occupational Therapist (MSOT, OTR)
Cody is excited to be a valued member of the Step Forward Therapy team! He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Drake University and went on to earn his Master’s in Occupational Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis. Cody has experience in multiple practice settings through fieldwork and employment and has developed a passion for healthcare across the lifespan. During his fieldwork placements, Cody had the opportunity to work in the school system to help students succeed academically. This richly rewarding experience, and the creativity it entailed, have highlighted the significance and joy to be found in therapy during the early years. Cody now hopes to further his impact by helping to meet the needs of children and their families to foster a broader success in life. When not in the clinic, Cody can be found testing new recipes in his kitchen, sifting through mountains of vinyl records at a local store, hosting a board game night with friends, or exploring hiking trails with his dog, Cassiopeia.
Sophie C.
Occupational Therapist (COTA/L)
Sophie has been a COTA for 9 years, both working in skilled nursing as well as pediatric
sensory integration and pediatric home health. Sophie’s younger brother has autism, which
sparked a lifelong passion for helping children reach their highest level of independence and
connect with their environment in a way that works best for them. Sophie especially aims to
create a fun and engaging environment within the realms of sensory integration and feeding
therapy. Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family cooking and baking,
playing board games, Pokemon Go, exploring museums, hiking, and riding bikes.
