Responsibilities
-
- Teach students personal development skills, such as goal setting, independence, or self-advocacy.
- Communicate verbally/non verbally with children to provide them with comfort, encouragement, or positive reinforcement.
- Employ special education strategies or techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, or memory.
- Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification or positive reinforcement.
- Confer with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, or administrators to resolve students’ behavioral or academic issues.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, or administrative regulations.
- Organize and supervise games or other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, or social development.
- Arrange indoor or outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.
- Organize and display students’ work in a manner appropriate for their perceptual skills.
Qualifications
-
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Social Work, preferred
- ISBE- Learning Behavior Specialists I (LBS I) certification OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker OR Developmental Therapist Illinois Early Intervention Credential, preferred
- Child Development Associate Certification, preferred
- 1 Year Teaching Experience, preferred
- 1 Year Childcare Experience, preferred
- Must be willing to be fingerprinted and pass a background check.
- Regular and timely communication with supervisor
- Must be dog-friendly – we have therapy dogs in the office

Physical Requirements

- Periods of extensive standing (up to 2 hours at times), walking, and running
- Navigating uneven surfaces
- Requires lifting (25 – 30 lbs), positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
- Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Ability to Commute/Relocate

- Rolling Meadows, IL 60008: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
Salary

- $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
